BM2, Final Post

Write a 2-3 paragraph summary of what you have learned in this project about driving safety, and the factors affecting individual drivers. This should be a separate comment on the blog for each student. It should show me, without defining a list of vocabulary words, that you know what it means for a car or a person to experience velocity, speed, acceleration, reaction time factors, centripetal force, inertia, and equipment condition.

Please hand in the graph from part 1, the poster from page 2 (if you did it), your conclusions from page 3, and your conclusions from page 4.

Breakdown of points

Blog post 1: 10 points
Graph: 20 points
Page 2 or Blog Post: 10 points
Page 3: 10 points
Page 4: 25 points
Final blog Post: 25 points

Throughout the course of this project I have learned a lot about drivers safety and the factors affecting drivers.
For example through this project I have come to a realization: yellow lights are there to help us. A yellow light tells us to prepare to stop, and if you know how fast your going you know weather or not you should stop. Either way you should slow down.
I have also learned that in some situations, people and cars accelerate the same. For example, in the "moving man" project you had a situation where you had the man start out at a speed then you had him accelerate faster and then even faster. That situation would be the same in a car.
All in all, through the course of this project I have learned to be a safer driver through the wonders of science.

I learned a lot about how cars move. I didn't realise that it takes such a distance for a car going 50 miles per hour to stop. Inertia can be a pretty powerful force.

I also learned a lot about how quick a car can pick up speed. 0 to 60 in under 10 seconds means more to me now.

The part we did about reaction time and braking was very eye-opening. I knew a little bit about having to stop for something on the road, where I live , we have to stop every night for deer. But I have never hit one, this might have something to do with never seeing one while going around a curve and having my brakes replaced when they get bad.

I have learned a lot throughout this benchmark. I learned that knowing how long it will take you to brake and how much time you have left to stop are very important at a yellow light intersection. I know everyone needs to be careful at intersections because not everyone knows whether they should stop or not. I also learned how you need to be especially careful during deer season going around a curve because you may not see it right away. Knowing your car is in good condition also will help you be more prepared when you see a deer. In the end I learned a lot about how speed, acceleration, and many other factors affect your driving in certain situations.

Throughout this benchmark sheet i have learned many new and good things. One thing i have learned that is beneficial to driving would be what do i do if i see deer. Well, i learned it has to do with your cars condition. If it is a new model, has new brakes, new tires, or where you are at on the road all affect what you should do when you come across this deer. Another thing i have learned is that yellow lights in an intersection do help you escape bad accidents. The seconds since it has turned to that yellow light tell you if you should slow down or stop or just pass through the intersection. Also not talking or texting on your cell phone have impact on your driving.

Throughout this benchmark I have learned a lot of things. I learned that a yellow light gives the driver a chance to slow down and stop for a red light. You need to know how close you are and how much time is left on the yellow and decide if you have enough time or distance to stop or just keep going. The faster you are going, the longer it takes to come to a stop. This is an example of inertia.
Another thing that I learned was that many factors can affect whether or not you hit a deer. If you sight a deer going down a straight road, you will have more reaction time to stop and honk your horn. But if you are going around a curve and sight a deer, your reaction time is reduced greatly, therefore, it would be important to have fresh tires, new brakes, and good head lights. All in all, I learned in this benchmark that many factors can affect your driving.

Throughout this course, I learned many new things about driving. I also learned more about the safety and the distractions while driving. Yellow lights help drivers dramatically and prevent many accidents from happening. Animals cause a lot of accidents while driving. You should never be using cellular devices while driving because they distract you when you should we watching out for critters. They will run in front of you and you need to use your best judgment to avoid them without swerving.

hey its been awhile i forgot my password had to make a new a acount. I found out that just because you think that you are safe it doesnt me your right. I found out that you really should check your car regulerly. I found out that a lot of people dont know enough about how to check there cars. There are a lot of things to check with your car like your oil level, brake fluid, ect. If it is any type bad weather you should drive more slowly. Remember be careful when driving, take care of your car, and REMEMBER road rage is BAD!

This project has been very helpful.
